Create a training diary in Badgie: questions per session and per athlete

Quick answer

A training diary is a club-specific form filled in at each session: some general questions about the session and others per athlete (distance, perceived effort, how they felt, technical goal…). You create it in four steps from Training diary → CREATE NEW DIARY, and coaches then log every session with it.

Where to find it

  • Web: the Training diary page (/dashboard/training-diary), with the Diaries and Statistics tabs.
  • Each diary in the list shows its number of sessions, its KPIs (questions, coaches and students) and the shortcuts See Diary Entries, Create Entry, Edit students and Excel.

Create the diary step by step

  1. Click CREATE NEW DIARY.
  2. Diary Info: name, logo, internal description and sport. Switch on Is a survey for students? if you want each student to fill it in on their own (only student questions are used).
  3. General: questions answered once per session (for example, the goal of the day).
  4. Athlete Performance: questions answered for each athlete. Click Add field and choose the type.
  5. Responsible Teachers: who can log sessions with this diary. Keep clicking Next step until it's saved.

Diary students and coaches

From the list, Edit students changes which students and coaches are assigned to the diary without touching the questions. Excel downloads all its entries.

What the student or family sees

In a regular diary the student fills in nothing: the coach does. If the diary is in survey mode, the student answers their own questions from their Badgie profile.

By sport

Swimming: distance, stroke and effort. Tennis or padel: minutes played and stroke worked on. Football or basketball: session load and niggles. Martial arts: technique worked on and fatigue. Each club defines its own questions.
