Sport reports: templates, grading, paper sheets and sending to families
Complete guide to Sport Reports in Badgie: build the template and its grading scale, grade in the matrix or on paper, add the coach comment with AI help and send each family their report card.

Quick answer
In Badgie a sport report is a template (for example "Quarterly swimming report · 1st term") with skill categories, questions and a grading scale. The coach grades the whole group in a matrix, on the phone or on a paper sheet that is scanned afterwards, and Badgie sends each family a link with the average grade, the coach comment and the detail for every skill.
In this guide
Where to find it
- Sidebar: ACADEMY › Sport Reports (/dashboard/sport-reports). The page is called Sport Reports Hub.
- Four tabs: Sport Reports (assigned reports and their status), Report Matrix (grade the whole group), Report Maker (templates) and Teams (teams to compare against the average).
- Scan report (/dashboard/sport-reports/scan): upload the photo of the sheet marked in pen.
- Coach app: report list, each student's report and sheet scanning from the phone.
1. Build the template in Report Maker
- Open the Report Maker tab and click Create report (or Edit students / the "…" menu of an existing template to clone or edit it).
- Basic information: report name, description, minimum and maximum age, grading system and Sport.
- Categories and questions: optionally upload the report badge or logo and create the Skill categories / Objectives (for example Stroke technique, Fitness, Attitude in the water) with their questions. Drag to reorder.
- Teachers and students: choose which coaches fill in the report and which students it is assigned to.
2. Choose the grading scale
Each template uses one scale; the selector offers:
- Progress milestones: each skill is marked as achieved or in progress.
- 1 to 5 and 1 to 10: a numeric grade per question; Badgie calculates the average per category and the report's Avg. Grade.
- A to E: letters.
- Insufficient to excellent: a qualitative scale.
3. Grade in the Matrix
The Report Matrix tab shows every student of a template in rows and every question in columns, grouped by category. Pick the report in the drop-down (it shows the number of students and questions) and type the grade in each cell: you can do it with the keyboard only (number or letter keys and arrows). The Average column and the bottom row update automatically.
- Add students assigns the report to more students without leaving the matrix.
- Tick students and click Send (n) to send them the report.
- The eye icon opens that student's individual report.
4. Fill it in on paper and scan it
- In the matrix click Print sheets. One sheet per student is generated; you can include grades already entered (printed in grey so they can be corrected) and turn on Certificate mode (header, signature, stamp and verification QR).
- The coach marks grades in pen at the pool or on the pitch.
- In Scan report upload the photo of the sheet (JPG, PNG or HEIC). Badgie reads the marks, shows you what it understood for review and writes the grades into the digital report. The coach app can scan with the camera.
5. Coach comment and AI help
Each report has a Teacher comment that saves automatically and appears at the top of the family's report card. In the Notes + AI tab, the AI Coach button drafts an analysis of the student from their grades: you choose length (short, medium or long), language, optional instructions, whether the note is Public (visible to the student or guardian) and whether to include the coach's previous notes. The text is reviewed and saved as a note.
6. Send the report to the family
- In Sport Reports, Send report opens the send dialog: search for the student and the report goes out by SMS/email or WhatsApp.
- From the matrix: select students and click Send (n).
- Each row has actions to download, generate the PDF and share the link; the list can be exported to PDF and Excel.
- The row status changes to Sent.
What the family sees
The family opens a link (badgie.com/student-certificate/…) on their phone, with nothing to install: club name, report title, date, Individual progress with the average grade, the coach comment and three tabs: Skills (each category with its average and each question with its grade), Notes and Photos. In the Badgie app it is also under Trophies › Reports.

By sport
- Swimming: technique per stroke, starts and turns, endurance and attitude in the water (the demo template).
- Football, basketball and team sports: technique, tactics, fitness and attitude; with Teams each player sees their grade next to the team average.
- Tennis and padel: strokes (forehand, backhand, volley, serve), movement and competition.
- Martial arts: technique, katas and attitude; belts have their own module.
- Golf: long game, short game and putting; schools with the golf module also have specific reports.
With the AI agent
The Badgie agent can check report status (get_reports_snapshot), read a template's matrix (get_report_matrix), propose grades for many cells at once (report_fill_responses) and propose sending the report to the students you choose (report_send). Filling and sending are proposals: nothing runs until you approve it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I reuse the same template every term?
Yes. The usual approach is to clone last term's template from Report Maker and rename it, so each term is kept separately.
How many coaches can fill in a report?
Those you choose in the Teachers and students step. Each one sees their students' reports in the dashboard and in the coach app.
Does the family need the app?
No. The report arrives as a link and opens in the phone browser. Families using the app also see it under Trophies › Reports.
What if I scan a badly marked sheet?
Badgie shows you what it read before applying it; fix the doubtful cell and then write the grades.
